Here’s some cool news. Consumers in Romania will have access to easy bitcoin purchases via 874 payment terminal located across the country.
It all comes together thanks to a partnership between ATM operator Bitcoin Romania and ZebraPay – the operator of the terminals. According to CoinDesk, the machines are one-way, and consumers will buy the digital currency with the Romanian leu.
The kiosks won’t require any identification, and already they seem to be a hit. In two says of service, over seven bitcoins have been sold. The kiosks do, however, charge a heft 4 percent commission on each transaction (prices are quoted from Cointrader).
Interestingly enough, CoinDesk adds that ZebraPay is planning to include bitcoin as a payment option for additional services that are offered through the kiosks some time by the end of the year. Examples of other things that can be done on the kiosk include paying utility bills, topping up mobile devices, and more.
Just another of many ways for people to get their hands on this emerging digital currency. But if you ask most in the cryptocurrency community, they’ll tell you there’s still a ton of more work to do to get bitcoin in the hands of more people.
