American Whistleblower Edward Snowden Now Accepting Donations in Bitcoin

ForexMinute.com – Edward Snowden, the popular American computer professional who rose to fame after leaking classified information from the National Security Agency (NSA), is now accepting Bitcoin for his official legal defense fund, currently being managed and run by Courage Foundation

Snowden has been earlier charged by the US government with multiple anti-national crimes, including “unauthorized communication of national defense information” and “willful communication of classified communications intelligence information to an unauthorized person”. The 31-year old whistleblower however questions these charges as they don’t let him explain the real intentions behind his actions. He had earlier quoted:

“I can’t in good conscience allow the US government to destroy privacy, internet freedom and basic liberties for people around the world with this massive surveillance machine they’re secretly building.”

Snowden, who has taken a temporary asylum in Russia, fears to return in the wake of political monopolies in the US. The Obama administration has previously charged a range of whistleblowers under the “unfair” Espionage Act, which hardly lets the accused explain their motives. The unlawfulness is one thing that has stirred many across the world to come and support Snowden.

His point of view have been further elaborated in a petition filed by libertarian politician and former US Congressman Ron Paul, who urged government to excuse Snowden from punishments as his intentions were simply about bringing freedom, liberty and truth to people. The politician, by far, has collected around 37,000 signatures to demonstrate public support to Snowden.
