Plus500 got its brand new sponsorship program off to a flying start yesterday evening, as the team on whose shirts its logo now resides – Atletico Madrid – beat local rivals Real Madrid 2-0 at the Copa del Rey.
We reported yesterday that the sponsorship – which we can now reveal to be worth 1.5 million EUR – was set to begin ahead of last night’s game. Markets are already hinting that the agreement – scheduled to draw to a close at the end of the season in about 4 months’ time – will be extended ahead of the season’s close.
As we mentioned yesterday, the reason this is news in the digital currency space is that Plus500 is one of a handful of companies that allow its clients to trade bitcoin, offering BTCUSD as a tradable asset through its platform.
Alongside the announcement, Gal Haber, Chief Executive Officer of Plus500, said:
Atlético Madrid is a natural fit for us as Europe is our largest customer base.
Who is Plus500? Plus500 is a provider of a leading online trading platform for contracts for difference, which enables customers to trade on movements in the price of shares, forex, commodities and indices without needing to buy or sell the underlying instrument.
