San Francisco-based Bitcoin startup Bitreserve has added Facebook lawyer Craig Clark as the Executive Vice President and General Counsel, the company announced in a blog post.
The move comes a couple of weeks after the company promoted the former Nike CIO Anthony Watson as the new Chief Executive Officer and a member of The Board of Directors.
According to the blog post, Craig will work alongside the leadership team to oversee Bitreserve’s legal efforts.
Craig has worked for the social networking giant Facebook for almost six years where he was involved in everything from intellectual property and civil litigation to privacy, compliance and regulatory inquiries, in addition to being a lawyer for Facebook’s Security Department on enforcement matters, legislation, cybersecurity, law enforcement engagement and related litigation, said the post.
“My almost six years at Facebook – a company that lives its mission to make the world more open and connected – just further fueled my passion for disruptive lawyering. By joining Bitreserve, I’ll have the opportunity to push further and help disrupt money. I cannot think of a more critical place for innovation.”
Craig shares the Bitcoin startup’s enthusiasm for financial inclusion and equality for all. He said, “If we can provide financial services to the unbanked by providing simple and transparent tools that allow everyone to send value without losing it, we can help make the world a better and more equal place.”

The Bitcoin startup is aggressively adding talented and experienced professional to its team. Just recently, the Bitcoin firm appointed the former MD & Global Operations Officer of Barclays Bank PLC Jim Milby as the first independent, Non-executive Director of The Board and Chair of The Board Audit Committee.
Adrian Steckel (recent CEO of the now-sold IUSACELL) was appointed as the Non-executive Director for the Series B round of investors on May 20, 2015.
