New York-based Art Gallery to Promote Bitcoin in Upcoming Event

It’s no surprise that the Bitcoin community, with its constant stream of innovations and ideas, is filled with creative people. Lately, it seems that more & more artists are being drawn towards cryptocurrency – accepting Bitcoin as a payment method for their artwork, painting representations of the abstract ideas behind cryptocurrency, developing uses of blockchain technology to benefit the overall art world. Bitcoin and art are undoubtedly connected, and the exploration of this relationship is certainly a hot topic. And in early January, that intersection will be on display for all to see at a gallery opening in New York City. The Parasite of Wall Street by Brooke McGowen Partial Mystery, a Brooklyn-based event series run by Creative Girls of NYC , is bringing their latest installment to RABBITHOLESTUDIO in DUMBO. The gallery show runs for one night only, on January 7. “Partial Mystery is half art show, half social event,” their Facebook page reads. “We rent out a gallery, fill it with our artwork, and hold a party.” Each event is centered around a single theme, and all of the artwork must relate in some way; past themes have ranged from sharks to the Internet.

This time, the theme is MONEY.

In the midst of the broader theme, the event is taking a closer look at cryptocurrency and its potential for disruption in today’s changing world. The event organizers are striving to invite an open dialogue about the problems with the current financial system, as well as possible solutions, with pieces ranging from a parasitic representation of Wall Street by Brooke McGowen to a poster advocating the benefits of Bitcoin by Maurice Doherty .
