Token Swap in a Trusted Execution Environment Come to HTC with Kyber

HTC has integrated the Kyber protocol in its Zion Vault on EXODUS 1, a Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) that is safe from even the phone’s operating system. HTC says:

“Zion utilizes the TEE to generate and keep your keys safe, even from the Android OS. The Zion trusted UI creates a safe environment for when you need to authorize a transaction with your crypto assets so that malware running on your phone’s OS cannot steal your information.”

From this environment you can now swap pretty much any ethereum based token with Kyber stating in an email:

“This integration enables the users to easily swap between cryptocurrencies in a decentralized manner without leaving the wallet.

With Kyber’s integration, EXODUS 1 users around the world can now swap major ERC20 tokens such as BAT, KNC, DAI and +60 tokens directly from Zion Vault. This removes the need for users to first move tokens to 3rd party exchanges. Token swaps are performed entirely on-chain and can be easily tracked and verified.

Kyber’s protocol allows decentralized token swaps to be integrated into any application, including wallets, vendors, websites, and DApps. To date, Kyber has been integrated by over 57 projects for its liquidity needs.”

This is basically a phone that is sort of halfway between a hardware wallet and a wallet app as TEE makes it considerably more secure than the latter.

That means the phone is connected to the blockchain and through that to any service, dapp, or protocol that runs on the blockchain.

Samsung’s new phone S10 is also doing something similar, but HTC appears to be moving a bit faster and unlike Samsung they’re not shy to showcase the blockchain aspects with this Kyber phone coming at a cost of $780.
