Telegram, one of the world’s largest end-to-end encryption services’ forthcoming blockchain project with be compatible with Ethereum (ETH) as per a statement from a tech company developing tools for the network.

Telegram TON will support Ethereum

Telegram is set to release the code required to run nodes on the Telegram Open Network (TON) this coming Sunday, which will enable users to participate in a trial of the projects slated mainnet launch on Halloween (Oct 31).

TON Labs, the tech startup which is led by investors in Telegram’s token sale, is currently hard at work on the creation of several tools for developers which will help them build on the new network. Included in these tools is a Solidify compiler which will enable devs to create DApps (decentralized applications) built for the Ethereum network to run on the TON network. TON Labs CEO, Alexander Filatov broke the news to the press recently stating:

“That was probably the most difficult thing we built. It will allow the advanced Ethereum community to pull everything they wrote for ethereum into TON.”

Furthermore, Filatov also stated that the compiler has been in a testing phase since July.

As mentioned above, TON is expected to launch on October 31. Should this deadline not be met, Telegram will be under a requirement to refund investors who participated in its token sale as per their user agreement. Thus, Sunday’s release is expected to the final in several testnet releases.

Moreover, Filatov stated that Sunday’s code release is the most crucial of the TON rollout:

“We have very little time between the node release and the mainnet launch to test, identify and fix possible bugs and vulnerabilities.”

Furthermore, the code for a light client was shared with investors earlier this year and thereafter immediately leaked to the public. Filatov stated that this client granted users the ability to experiment with several of the TON networks basic functions.

He stated:

“You can play with GRAMs [the network’s token], write a simple smart contract talking to the node via a light client [and] create a wallet.”

Lastly, Telegram managed to raise as much as $1.78 billion, if not more, back in 2018 for its highly anticipated blockchain.
