What did Elon Musk's tweet say about Bitcoin?

On May 12, 2021, Elon Musk suspended the purchase of any Tesla vehicle using Bitcoin.

In a Twitter statement, he wrote:

"Tesla has suspended vehicle purchases using Bitcoin. We are concerned about the rapidly increasing use of fossil fuels for Bitcoin mining and transactions, especially coal, which has the worst emissions of any fuel. "

"Cryptocurrency is a good idea on many levels and we believe it has a promising future, but this cannot come at great cost to the environment."

"Telsa will not be selling any Bitcoin and we intend to use it for transactions as soon as mining transitions to more sustainable energy. We are also looking at other cryptocurrencies that use less than 1% of Bitcoin's energy/transaction."

Tesla only began accepting Bitcoin in late March.

After Musk's tweet, Bitcoin stock fell by almost $2,000, falling from $54,700 to roughly $52,600.

Tesla's shares also went down by almost one percent after the after-trading-hours tweet.

Musk has recent expressed support of Bitcoin and other crypto, like Dogecoin.

"I do at this point think Bitcoin is a good thing, and I am a supporter of Bitcoin," he said. "I think Bitcoin is really on the verge of getting broad acceptance by conventional finance people."

In a February 2021 tweet, he doubled down on the sentiment, saying "Having some Bitcoin, which is simply a less dumb form of liquidity than cash, is adventurous enough for an S&P500 company."

What was Elon Musk's SNL skit accused of cultural appropriation?

The skit Gen Z Hospital has been accused of cultural appropriation.

The skit, written by Che, starred Kate McKinnon, Mikey Day, Heidi Gardner, Ego Nwodim, Bowen Yang, and SNL host Elon Musk.

In the skit, the cast used words and phrases including bestie, no cap, go off, king, sis, gang gang, and it's the.... for me.

While the skit was meant to joke about the slang used in Gen. Z, many of those phrases are used in African American Vernacular English (AAVE). Many viewers believe that the use of those phrases is considered cultural appropriation.

One person tweeted "the appropriation of AAVE by white people is gross, the mislabeling of AAVE as a 'Gen Z phenomenon' is also gross, but on top of that, the SNL skit reads like they just pulled a list of terms from UrbanDictionary and sprinkled them in, not caring that AAVE has a defined grammar!"

"Love the relabelling of AAVE and a few assorted BLACK LGBTQ+ phrases as 'Gen Z speak," another wrote.

SNL fans were initially disappointed when it was announced that Musk would host the episode.

After the SNL performance, the pair apparently attended a crypto-themed afterpart in a nod to Musk's cryptocurrency called Dogecoin.

Grimes has revealed that she was hospitalized for a panic attack after her husband, Elon Musk, performed on Saturday Night.
