What is Currency?
Currency is an object that is given a level of value or perceived value based on purchasing power
Currency usually comes in the form of bills and coins and is more often than not issued by governments and held in banks
Though currency with this given definition does not have to be in physical form
Bitcoin
Referred to as a crypto-currency
Established January 3, 2009
Created by Satoshi Nakamoto (anonymous creator)
Held in a virtual wallet on a mobile device or personal computer
Earned originally by solving mathematical puzzles then going to what is called the block chain and floating freely to be used there
De-centralized currency
Vivek Ranadive and the NBA's Sacramento Kings
Ranadive and the Kings became the first professional sports team to put Bitcoin to use
Fans could use the digital currency to purchase merchandise at Sleepy Train Arena as of March 1st
