
FBI Seizes Silk Road 2.0
The FBI and Europol yesterday conducted a joint operation “Operation Onymous” to crack down the flourishing illegal drug marketplaces on the internet. On its official Twitter page, the New York FBI later confirmed to have arrested the mastermind behind the famous online drug bazaar Silk Road 2.0, Blake Benthall, following with complete seizure of the website as well. More arrests are like to take place this week.
Dark Wallet Launches New Alpha Version
Dark Wallet was recently launched in its alpha version, after going through major structural changes. The new installed features are interface translation support, new Keyring structure, among other developments. However, this version is still in its testing mode and thus can have bugs and stability issues. The Dark Wallet project, promoted by the group unSYSTEM adds layers of privacy and anonymity for Bitcoin transactions and is designed to provide greater protection for the identity of their users.
Coinverse to Expand Operations in Latin America
Coinverse launched a new banking Bitcoin platform which aims to expand its service to the Latin American market. This startup based in Brazil sees an unmet demand for Bitcoin solutions dedicated to new users or inexperienced in the use of cryptocurrency. Coinverse CFO Safiri Felix said that he estimates that the 90% of Brazilians who buy Bitcoin see it as an investment. Therefore, it is unlikely for them to use cryptocurrency technology as a way to transfer value. “We wanted to create a service to get to the common user and not just speculators and traders,” Felix said.
