The Electronic Transactions Association (ETA) announces new digital currency features, including the so-called "World of Bitcoin" exhibit showcase, at industry's major event, Transact 15.
Powered by ETA, Transact 15 is one of the world's largest and most important events covering all aspects of the payments industry. This year, the digital currency industry will be represented through an exhibit showcase called "World of Bitcoin," which will be featuring leading Bitcoin payments solution provider BitPay.
"With the launch of our World of Bitcoin showcase, and our partnership with BitPay to accept bitcoin payments, TRANSACT 15 is now the place to be for digital currency in 2015," said Jason Oxman, CEO at ETA.
According to BitPay co-founder Tony Gallippi:
"TRANSACT 15 will be a great arena for Bitcoin companies to showcase their new products and services while connecting with leaders within the payments industry.
BitPay is working with ETA to increase bitcoin acceptance and raise awareness about cryptocurrency via our exhibit booth at TRANSACT 15."
In early August 2014, ETA welcomed BitPay as the first digital currency company to become an ETA member. Back then, Oxman indicated that members of his organization were starting to recognize Bitcoin's disruptive potential, and said to be expecting more partnerships between traditional electronic payment providers and Bitcoin startups.
He further indicated that the Bitcoin Foundation played a major role in educating ETA on the benefits of Bitcoin, while highlighting the advantages of strategic partnerships between digital currency startups and companies in the electronic payment industry.
ETA is the world's largest payments technology trade association that counts more than 550 member companies, including Visa, MasterCard, Amazon, Paypal, BitPay and Circle.
The association had started several initiatives to address the topic of digital currencies, including the Digital Currency Working Group, aiming to tackle business issues related to digital currencies, as well as the Digital Currency Day, hosted in Washington D.C. in late November 2014.
In partnership with ETA member Circle, Digital Currency Day attracted more than 100 government and industry attendees to discuss Bitcoin policy issues, according to the organization.
Transact 15, which will take place from March 31 to April 2, at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, is expected to bring all the leaders from the payments ecosystem under one roof, including major mobile network operators, equipment manufacturers, online service providers, retailers, major processors, major card brands, and venture capital/investors.
