Out of the 8 tech companies CB Insights researched, about 5 of them pulled back on M&A deals in 2015 compared to the previous year.

Under CEO Satya Nadella, Microsoft scaled up its acquisitions to 18 in 2015 compared to 10 in 2014 and 4 in 2011. Some of Microsoft’s recent noteworthy acquisitions includes the $2.5 billion purchase of Minecraft developer company Mojang and the Sunrise calendar app for over $100 million.
