Meghan Markle has topped Google's list of trending search queries for 2017, with the news of her engagement to Prince Harry in November causing a storm of interest online.
The royal bride-to-be's name was the biggest search term of the year in the UK, beating both the iPhone 8 and Hurricane Irma, which appeared in second and third place respectively.
Some of the year's biggest news events - including the Manchester bombing and Grenfell Tower - featured prominently in the list, with spikes in search for volunteering and donating to related causes.
The unexpected rise of the "fidget spinner" was also reflected in the list, with the toy of 2017 taking the fourth spot in top trending terms, and "How to make a fidget spinner" one of the top trending "How To" queries.
Meanwhile, new Netflix drama 13 Reasons Why claimed the seventh spot in the overall trending list - reflecting the shift from traditional broadcast to on-demand TV viewing habits.
Bitcoin was another of 2017's buzzwords, and this year's search trends show the UK has been keen to take advantage of the cryptocurrency's r'apid increase in value.
"What is Bitcoin", "How to buy Bitcoin" and "How to mine Bitcoins" all appeared near the top of their respective trending lists, according to Google.
The top trending "What is...?" questions reveal how many in the UK turned to Google to find out more about the general election results in June.
"What is a hung parliament ", "What is an exit poll " and "What is the DUP" all featured in the top 10.
Google said the search data offered "a unique perspective on the year's major moments and top trends based on online searches conducted in the UK".
