Cosmos Lifts Off
Interoperable blockchain ecosystem Cosmos recently launched its mainnet, the Cosmos Hub. Prior to the launch, Cosmos set and achieved four key milestones: external security audits of the Cosmos software development kit (SDK), internal bug hunting within the SDK, completion of the Game of Stakes adversarial testnet competition, and the collection of genesis transactions. After the genesis file was adopted by the Cosmos community, the mainnet was launched.
The Cosmos Hub is a proof-of-stake (PoS) network based on the Tendermint Byzantine fault tolerant (BFT) blockchain engine. Some say the hub represents "the first BFT PoS public blockchain," though several groups are developing in the areas of PoS and BFT. One of the main goals of Cosmos is to enable what it calls "the internet of blockchains."
With Melonport winding down after the release of v1.0 of the watermelon protocol, co-founder Mona El Isa said a new entity, tentatively called Madeeba Ltd., will launch later this year. Madeeba will hold one seat on the Melon Council, the protocol's aragonOS-powered governing body.
El Isa added that Madeeba will build an application layer on top of the watermelon protocol to serve as "a one-stop shop for asset management." This application layer, though, is intended to allow individuals to use it without them necessarily knowing it's powered by blockchain technology.
Gitcoin LR, Round Two
Vivek Singh yesterday announced Gitcoin's second round of its liberal radical donation-matching program. This time around, Gitcoin has up to $50,000 to be distributed across 42 Ethereum infrastructure projects, ranging from POA Network and LeapDAO to Uniswap and EthHub.
Round two's matching period began on March 6 and lasts until April 19. Gitcoin hopes to see more than $25,000 donated toward the 42 projects, as well as 200 unique contributions made and at least $2,500 distributed to each of the top 10 projects. Anybody who donates will receive a "Radical Contributor" Kudos.
