enjin platform

Enjin Platform is a new app that allows developers to easily create non-fungible tokens (NFTs) on the Ethereum blockchain. It works through a simple interface that requires no knowledge of coding.

We’ve spent some time testing the platform, and we’ll report on what we discovered in this article.

Because Enjin Platform does not require coding knowledge, anyone can use it to create their own ENJ-backed tokens. This means that you don’t even have to be a game or Dapp developer to have your own digital collectibles.

Maybe you are a Twitch Streamer or Youtube creator who wants to reward viewers of your channel. Or maybe you own an Ecommerce site and want to create a loyalty program using your branded NFTs.

Or perhaps you are just a fan of Dapp technology who wants to create your own NFTs for the fun of it. Whatever the reason, you can now create unique Enjin-backed collectibles without any knowledge of computer languages or programming.

You can create Kovan testnet tokens for free. Creating Ethereum mainnet tokens requires a subscription payment of $29/month. You’ll need ENJ and ETH to mint mainnet tokens.

This article will explain how Enjin Platform works and how you can use it to create NFTs.

How to Use Enjin Platform on Kovan testnet

Enjin Platform charges a $29/month subscription fee. So if you just want to see how it works, you may want to try the free Kovan testnet version instead. Here is how to use the Enjin Platform on Kovan testnet.

Getting Kovan ETH (KETH) and Kovan ENJ (KENJ)

Using the Kovan ENJ Platform requires Kovan ETH (KETH) and Kovan ENJ. These tokens are just used for developer testing. They don’t have any real value.

To receive KETH and KENJ, navigate your browser to the official KENJ faucet.

keth faucet
Paste your ENJ Wallet address into the field provided, and click

Get testing KENJ!

These assets will go to the KETH version of your ENJ Wallet address. It’s the same address used in your regular wallet, but on a different blockchain.

Creating a project

To create your first token, you’ll first need to start a project.

Navigate to the Kovan ENJ Platform, found here: kovan.cloud.enjin.io

Login. Or if you don’t have an account, click “don’t have an account?” at the bottom of the page. When you are finished logging in or registering, you should be brought to the main menu.

enjin projects
Click the + sign above Create Project.

Enter a name and description for the project. You can also upload a brand image here if you want – although in our testing, the image didn’t display after being uploaded.

Click save changes when you’re done filling out the fields.

Linking your ENJ Wallet to the Kovan Enjin Platform

Once the project is created, a new menu will open up on the left side of the screen. This will allow you to link your KENJ wallet to the new project.

Click wallet settings from the menu on the left side of the screen.

Select linked apps.

Open the Enjin Wallet app on your mobile device, and click the 3 horizontal bars in the upper-left corner.

Select linked apps.

Push the + link app button.

Look at the code shown on your PC. Enter this into the app on your mobile device.

Your project should now be shown on your list of “linked apps” on your Enjin wallet.

On your PC, click the refresh wallet button from within Enjin Platform. You should now see your KENJ wallet address in the center of the screen and your KENJ and KETH balances in the lower-left.

wallet address

The KETH amount in the lower-left will be labeled as ETH instead of KETH, but you should be able to verify from the balance that it is the KETH version of your wallet that is linked.

Creating an asset

Now that your wallet is linked, it’s time to create a token.

Click assets from the menu on the left.

Push the create asset button.

Fill out the fields provided, and use the drop-down menu to select from various options.

Your token can be fungible or non-fungible, have a fixed supply or a set amount of inflation. You can also choose to make it temporarily transferable, always transferable, or bound to this address.

You may want to look at all of the options here before pushing create asset – because there are quite a few decisions to make.

When you’re done choosing options, push the create asset button. You’ll get a message saying that you need to approve the transaction.

Open your Enjin Wallet again and select the requests tab. Click approve → confirm approve to approve the transaction.

Your PC browser will display a message stating that the transaction has been broadcast to the Ethereum network. Refresh the page after a minute or two. Your new asset will now be shown.

How to Use The Enjin Platform on Ethereum Mainnet

The steps to using the mainnet Enjin Platform are almost identical to the ones for the Kovan testnet version – except for these three differences:

  1. You don’t need Kovan testnet ETH or KENJ to create mainnet versions of your NFTs. So skip this step
  2. You do need “real” ETH and ENJ to create mainnet assets. The ENJ will be used to “mint” your collectibles so that they will have melt value. The ETH wil be used to pay gas fees. Make sure you have enough before you begin
  3. The mainnet version of the Enjin Platform is located here: https://enjin.io/products/platform
  4. The least expensive plan for the mainnet Enjin Platform costs $29/month. This allows you to create 1 project and perform a maximum of 500 API requests per day. This is more than enough for most casual users. When you’re ready, just click upgrade plan to subscribe

These are the only differences we found between the testnet and “real” versions of the platform.

Enjin Platform makes it easier than ever to create Enjin-backed NFTs. Now practically anyone can create digital collectibles.

It remains to be seen whether more small businesses will adopt this system to create rewards for fans and frequent customers. But at least the complexity of creating tokens will no longer be an obstacle to adoption.
