Kristen Visbal, the artist behind the Fearless Girl statue, is famous for battling with the iconic Wall Street’s Charging Bull since 2019. Visbal is undertaking a legal battle against the company that is behind the funding of the installation.

As part of a marketing campaign, McCann, an advertising agency, commissioned the sculpture for State Street Global Advisors, an asset management firm, completely backed the production costs.

On International Women’s Day in 2017, right after the sculpture was installed, it went viral immediately. This week, Visbal created 25 additional editions of the work, each costing $250,000. The artist was making unauthorized copies in violation of its trademark, argued State Street.

Visbal is creating an NFT as a method to collect funds for her legal costs, that costs about $3.3 million, and for promoting the feminist message of the statue.

Visbal was heard saying that the lawsuit has essentially ruined her life.

Moreover, Visbal said that she is “a Fearless Girl in every sense of the name, not only in my lawsuit.” She also revealed that she is making efforts to build these NFTs in a community of which she is just beginning to become a part of and really enjoying it.

Tilted “Superstar,” the Fearless Girl NFT drop will be released in stages. The Drop is the product of collaboration with 9fix, a digital art house.

Fearless Girl is depicted as a speeding comet in a micro movie (less than two minutes) called Superstar.

In an edition of five, the cost of digital art is 3.05 ETH ($7,500). Visbal is also auctioning clips from Superstar on OpenSea. Last week, the first of five segments came out.

A shorter animation called “Interstellar Collection,” with a 22-inch Fearless Girl bronze miniature, sold in an edition of 125 for 3.65 ETH ($9,000).

Visbal is hopeful that the NFT collection will offer her an opportunity to again incite the message of Fearless Girl. She says the ideas behind Fearless Girl through a corporate brand message are completely ruined.

The intention of State Street was to promote its Gender Diversity Index SHE through the sculpture via an exchange-traded fund that invests in women-led companies.
