How To Set Up a Phala Account Identity On Polkadot Extension
Phala Network’s naming system is designed to enhance the trustworthiness of participants by allowing them to attach verified personal information to their on-chain accounts. This system not only increases transparency but also has practical implications for operations and governance within the Phala and Khala ecosystems. It serves as a bridge between the anonymity of blockchain and the need for identifiable trust in certain applications, fostering a more secure and reliable environment for users and their transactions.
To set up a Phala Network account identity using the Polkadot Extension, follow the steps below;
Step 1. Open your Polkadot Extension.
Step 2. Select ‘Polkadot & Parachains’ and choose ‘Phala Network.’

Step 3. Click ‘Switch’ at the top.

Step 4. Navigate to ‘Accounts,’ click the gear icon next to your account, and choose ‘Set on-chain identity.’

Step 5. Fill in the default fields with your information in the popup and click ‘Set Identity.’ Users can also add custom fields by using the Extrinsics UI. For detailed instructions, visit link.

To remove your identity, simply click on ‘Clear identity.’
Judgment
After a user submits their information on-chain, they can seek judgment from a registrar. Users specify a maximum fee they’re willing to pay, and registrars with fees under this amount can issue a judgment. This changes the user’s identity status from ‘unjudged’ to ‘waiting.’ After the registrar verifies the identity, a green checkmark will appear next to the user’s account name, indicating the confidence level of the verification. Additionally, users can cancel their judgment request via an extrinsic if they realize they have submitted incorrect information before a judgment is made.
