
BitPay, the Bitcoin payment processor has agreed to help ‘Save the Children’ a not for profit organization that invests in childhood to accept Bitcoin in donations. Save The Children works in the United States and around the world as it gives children a healthy start, the opportunity to learn and protection from harm.
In an announcement Save the Children said that it is now accepting Bitcoin donations through BitPay, the world’s leading Bitcoin payment processor. ForexMinute reported yesterday that Red Cross in the US too has started accepting Bitcoin in donations from people interested in helping it help the families and individuals.
Established in the last century, Save the Children is a top-rated charity. It came to existence in 1919 to provide aid for European children who were affected by World War I; however, later on it expanded its reach to almost all parts of the world to help out children around the world. It also receives thousands of dollars in donations from people.
Now that the organization will be accepting Bitcoin donations directly through their personalized BitPay donation page just in time for the holiday season, a lot of Bitcoin enthusiasts will be able to donate without much hassle. Nonetheless, as BitPay won’t charge any processing fees, the charity will be able to keep 100 percent of all Bitcoin donations.
A source from Save The Children thanked BitPay and said that they have already seen the generosity of the Bitcoin community, and working with BitPay allows them to keep 100% of the donations, helping them serve even more children. Bitcoin is not new for Save the Children as in the last winter; Save the Children participated in a Bitcoin campaign.
Bitcoin to Help Children Fighting Ebola
That Bitcoin campaign was hosted by the BitGive Foundation, a charitable Bitcoin organization, to raise Bitcoin donations for Typhoon Haiyan Relief. Nonetheless, as the campaign was hugely successful their ongoing relationship with the BitGive Foundation, prompted Save the Children to accept Bitcoin donations.
The press release from the organization says that they will also be listed on BitcoinBlackFriday.com and BitcoinGivingTuesday.org, the two sites dedicated to listing deals or fundraising events for Bitcoin users. Nonetheless, Bitcoin donations will benefit Save the Children’s Ebola Children’s Relief Fund to help #StopEbola as well.
Elizabeth Ploshay admitted that Save the Children showcases the advantages of Bitcoin for charities: no fees, no minimum donations, and the support of the highly enthusiastic Bitcoin community.
